About Moonpage
Anyone can generate a story. Almost none of them can be read.
That is the actual problem. Ask any chatbot for a bedtime story and you get eight paragraphs at a reading level no five-year-old can touch — lovely for you to read aloud, useless for them to read. So Moonpage is built the other way round. You pick a reading level; the story is written to it; and then the story is MEASURED against it before it reaches the shelf. If it comes back too hard — sentences too long, too many words over the letter budget — it is written again, stricter, on the same single credit. One credit buys a book at the level you asked for, not one attempt at one.

Every word is a button
This is the part that does the teaching, and it is the part that is free forever. Tap a word and the app says it. Hold it and the word opens up into coloured chunks, each with a picture cue — "sh" next to a ship, "ee" next to a tree — because that is how phonics is taught on paper, and because a browser voice can say "ship" perfectly and cannot say a lone "sh" at all. The genuinely irregular words — said, was, one, come — are not chunked. The card says, in words a child can read, that this is a tricky word we learn by sight, which is exactly what a phonics programme does and the opposite of what a naive splitter would do.

Read to me — and follow the word being said
Press Read to me and the page reads itself aloud with each word lighting up as it is spoken, a soft band tracking the line underneath. That highlight is real: the app follows the voice word by word rather than guessing from a timer. A slower, prettier recorded narration was the other option and it was rejected on purpose — an audio file cannot tell you which word it is on, and knowing which word is being said is the entire reason a pre-reader can follow a line at all.

The words that were hard become the practice
A word lands on the Word Wall because your child asked for it. Not a word list from a publisher, not a level from a test — the words THIS child tapped, in the books they actually read, ordered by how often they came back. The practice screen turns them into cards with the sound-it-out chunks a press away, and "I know it now" is theirs to declare. Tapping the same word in a story again quietly un-marks it, because the tap is the more recent evidence.

What costs money, and what never will
Writing a new story costs one credit: ten a month free, a hundred on Pro. That is the only thing in Moonpage that costs anything, ever. Reading, re-reading, the speech, the phonics chunking, the sight words, the word hunt, the Word Wall, the pictures, the room sound, the typefaces, the reading ruler and the printable copies are all free on every plan and always will be — they run in the browser and cost us nothing. Pro buys more books and longer ones, a reader for each child, the next part of an adventure, and a reading report for you. It does not buy your child a better education, and nothing in this app is made worse to sell it.
